A few habits I’ve incorporated to be productive and set myself up for success.
Keep a planner. Make check lists. This is an essential for me. I have always found that writing things down helps me stay organized and feel more accomplished. I write everything down: to do lists, due dates, errands, plans, anything that needs to be done, I write it down. Even if it’s something I know I won’t forget, it helps me stay organized with my time and schedule.
Develop a morning routine. This doesn’t need to be anything complicated, a simple morning routine helps start your day on a productive tone. The most consistent part of my morning routine is my morning walk - this is something I never miss, even when traveling or have an early day. I love starting my day getting outside, so I always make time for it first thing in the morning.
Wear sunscreen everyday. Yes, I mean when it’s cloudy or cold too. Growing up with pale skin and freckles, this is something my mom always emphasized, but I don’t think people realize that it’s not only people with fair skin that need sun protection. Everyone needs to protect their skin from the dangers of UV rays, everyday. Sunscreen should be a part of your daily skincare routine, no exceptions.
Find things you like to cook. Find recipes you love, that are also easy to make. It can also be helpful to meal prep - as a girl that is always traveling I skip this, but having go-to, quick recipes makes mealtime much simpler and healthier.
Prioritize your sleep. I prefer going to sleep early and waking up early, but whatever your preference - get your 8 hours! Sleep plays an important role in our mental health and immune system, often in ways that we can’t see right away. Sleep is beneficial to cognitive ability, including memory and creativity. Walk daily. The goal is 10,000 steps a day. This is the simplest way to stay active, which is so so important to the longevity of our health. Realistically, the goal is to exercise regularly, walk, and stretch daily, but if you can start by averaging 8,000-10,000 steps a day, you are on the right track.
Take care of your body and mind - it’s the best way to set yourself up for a successful, happy life.
